INTERVIEW BEGINS AT MINUTE 20:00.

In our first installment, we focused on how comic book heroes had become our new gods, saviors, and role-models. Now we delve into the fiery minds that gave them godlike life and transformed society. We take an intimate scan of the personalities that gave us some of the greatest and inspirational fiction of the last hundred years. We shockingly find that most authors of Comic Books, and many in Science Fiction, truly believed in what they wrote. They were knee-deep in the arcane arts, interacted with UFO's, were plagued by mystic visions, and even had unusual powers themselves. They didn't create Science Fiction but actually lived it, and then wrote diaries that often came true in the future! Many were part of Secret Societies or fringe religions like Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Kabbalah, and Gnosticism. Some actually worked for the government in experimental programs like remote viewing. And in a strange way their lives translated into the stories of our beloved superheroes that became the myths that influenced our modern collective unconscious.

Astral Guest-- Jeff Kripal, author of Mutants and Mystics: Science Fiction, Superhero Comics, and the Paranormal , Authors of the Impossible: The Paranormal and the Sacred and The Serpent's Gift: Gnostic Reflections on the Study of Religion, as well as Chair of the Department of Religion at Rice University.
