I'm bashing the level into a shape where I know the scope of what I can build and still maintain the needed framerate. I've got an ocean in, and a terrain. I decided to make it dark, so you are compelled to examine things more closely, and move around more gradually. I made a quick torch, which is quite fun to use. And I made the internal "chambers" more linear, with a series of rooms. I've still got the skeletons in there, but the next step might be to turn them off, and focus on the room puzzles. I'm thinking of things like a pressure plate which opens a door, having to carry candles, find hidden levers, etc. I'd like to enhance the creature AI and make them have hearing as well as better sight (such as being alerted by moving light sources), and having various barks and footstep sounds. Or I might just remove the creatures altogether and focus on it being more of a pure adventure game level. :)
