Craig De Freitas dethroned Chris Dennis to win the National Surfing Championships held in the Toco district. Dennis finished in the runner's up spot with Elton John and Keith Lewis tying for third place. Oba Lewis was a double champion as he copped the Under-18 and Under-14 Boys title, while Ludmilla Gunther won the Girls Under-14 and the Mixed Category titles. Lewis was happy with his achievements while being thankful to those who helped him get involved in the sport.
