Tuesday afternoon a Cleveland man went to the Wells Fargo Bank in Cleveland to withdraw $1800 to pay a contractor who is repairing his flood-damaged home from Harvey. On his way home he stopped at the convenience store at East River and US 59.. Once inside he looked back to his truck which was parked near the fuel pumps.  That is when he saw a black car pull up next to his passenger door and 2 black males go into his truck. He immediately ran out at which time they put a gun to him and told him to get on the ground and then fled. The victim then jumped into his Dodge pickup and gave chase as he called 911. With Liberty County on 911 due to the location, he chased the vehicle south. As they approached FM 2090 the Splendora Police Chief who was responding to a nonemergency call was passed by the black vehicle and the Dodge pickup at 128 mph. He immediately gave chase and called other units. Liberty County had not notified Montgomery County of the incident so all they knew was they were chasing two vehicles at well over 100 mph. Other units joined in and roadblock was set at Sh 99. That is where the black car pulled over along with the truck. All persons were immediately detained until officers found out what was going on. The 3 males were taken into custody. One is charged in Montgomery County for evading. The other two are being charged in Liberty County for aggravated robbery. Police believe the victim was followed from the bank after watching him withdraw cash. Only about half of the money was recovered as some were thrown out of the vehicle during the chase.
