You can take the little rack and pinion train up to the Mer de Glace (sea of ice), the longest glacier in France but we decided to hike up and take the train down.

We thought the day had cleared but storms moved in and we ended hiking for over two hours in a torrential downpour. Too wet and cold to even admire the now-clearing views, it was back on the train down to Chamonix. With a purchased Mont-Blanc lift pass, a person has unlimited use of the trams and gondolas. Ours was good for six "non-consecutive" days. Oh well, we'll check out the Mer de Glace on a sunny day. Please don't forget to Subscribe Share and Like. Thanks
