This is one of the variations of the last drill in the Primary Assessment Progression drills.
(Aquatics International, March 2014)

Guidelines:

Lifeguards are in 2-person teams, with a primary rescuer, and a victim. You can substitute a manikin for the victim if necessary.

WARNING: IF USING A REAL VICTIM, DO NOT DO ACTUAL RESCUE BREATHING ON THE VICTIM. ONLY SIMULATE THE RESCUE BREATHING.

Rescuer will be wearing gloves at this time and a fanny pack with a pocket mask

Primary rescuer has just finished their checking for breathing on the victim, and begins their scan for bleeding. Trainer will state the victim's condition and the primary rescuer will provide the appropriate care.

Trainer will state that there is no severe bleeding, the victim has a pulse but is not breathing. Primary rescuer needs to provide adult rescue breathing 3 times

WARNING SECOND TIME: IF USING A REAL VICTIM, DO NOT DO ACTUAL RESCUE BREATHING ON THE VICTIM. ONLY SIMULATE THE RESCUE BREATHING.

As the trainer, you can still ensure that your rescuers are opening the airwary properly, holding the mask properly and providing rescue breathing for an adult 1 breath for every 5 seconds.

This is an all pass drill, meaning all primary rescuers must complete the drill for the lifeguard team to receive a pass. This drill must be completed in 18 seconds.

A 6-12 lifeguard team is preferred. Depending on size of staff, modify to accomodate needs.
