Beer sales benefit late Cincinnati police officer's children

CINCINNATI (Deb Dixon) -- A batch of beer which started brewing at Rhinegist Brewery early Friday, Jan. 9, will be cooked by Friday night. 
    
The science of making a new beer takes seven hours for a full batch which is about 80 kegs. One particular beer will be available to the public for a brief time. The name means something to many people in Cincinnati.

Brewing beer is part science and part art. Rhinegeist Brewery added heart to a batch of beer, cooking up a new recipe created by Six String Brew Works in memory of Cincinnati police Sergeant Eric Sierra. He died suddenly of a brain aneurysm in November 2014.
 
Eric's wife, Lisa, said, "He will be with every drink sold. Be there giving a cheer."

Some of the beer money will go to the Eric Sierra Children's Fund for Megan, Nick and Nate. Of every pint sold 50 cents goes to the kids.

People should look for the certain tap in 11 different bars starting Jan. 26. "S" is for sergeant, 23 his badge number, and of course the thin blue line.

The truth is Eric Sierra liked his Bud Light. But his family said he would have loved S23 because it was about community, family, and the police department. 

There's a keg tapping party for the S23 at Jefferson Social on The Banks Sunday, Jan. 25. The next day it will be sold at 11 bars and breweries in greater Cincinnati.
