My knitted look crochet hats are dedicated to women and their femininity. hopefully a few will be worn in Washington DC when a peaceful demonstration is held on the 21st of January 2017 hashtag pussyhat

This part of the pattern will make a newborn baby sized hat.

My knitted look crochet hat pattern

You will need a 4mm crochet hook and thin yarn, I think it's 4 ply or worsted yarn.

Begin with a magic circle

Round 1. chain 3, 9 double crochet into the ring,
slip stitch to join in the third chain.
Total 20 front post double crochet.

Round 2. 2 front post double crochet over the chain from the last round, 2 front post double crochet over every post of each double crochet. Slip stitch to join in the top of the first front post double crochet.
Total 20 front post double crochet. 

Round 3. chain 3, front post double crochet over the stitch to the right of your chain 3 from the last round.
This action creates a seamless join on the outside of your work.
2 front post double crochet of the next stitch, not the chain.
front post double crochet over the next stitch
2 front post double crochet over the next stitch.
Repeat to the end.
slip stitch to join in the top of the first front post double crochet
total 30 front post double crochet.

Round 4. chain 3, front post double crochet over the stitch to the right of your chain, front post double crochet over every stitch.
slip stitch to join in the top of the first front post double crochet.
total 30 front post double crochet.

Round 5, front post double crochet over the stitch to the right of your chain, 
2 front post double crochet over the next stitch,
front post double crochet over the next stitch.
repeat to the end
slip stitch to join in the top of the first front post double crochet.
Total 45 front post double crochet.

Round 6.Chain 3, front post double crochet over the stitch to the right of your chain, front post double crochet over every stitch.
Slip stitch to join in the top of the first front post double crochet.
total 45 front post double crochet

Round 7. chain 3, front post double crochet over the stitch to the right of your chain,
2 front post double crochet over the next stitch,
front post double crochet over the next stitch,
repeat to the end
slip stitch to join in the top of the first front post double crochet.
total 67 front post double crochet.

Round 8, front post double crochet over the stitch to the right of your chain, front post double crochet over every stitch.
total 67 front post double crochet.

Round 9, Chain 3, front post double crochet over the stitch to the right of your chain,  front post double crochet over the next stitch, 2 front post double crochet over the next stitch.
Front post double crochet over the next 2 stitches,
2 front post double crochet over the next stitch.
Repeat the sequence to the end.
Slip stitch to join in the top of the first front post double crochet.
Total 89 front post double crochet.

round 10. chain 3, front post double crochet over the stitch to the right of your chain, front post double crochet over every stitch.
slip stitch to join in the top of the first front post double crochet.
Total 89 front post double crochet.

Repeat round 10 for 20 rounds or longer if you want to make a slouchy styled hat, then move on to make the ribbed edge.
