CINCINNATI (Adam Clements) -- Testimony begins Tuesday in the trial of former Ohio representative Peter Beck. He's accused to stealing millions of dollars from investors..Beck's attorney Ralph Kohnen told the court Monday that the evidence will fall "woefully short" in proving that his client is guilty of ripping off several investors out of boatloads of cash.Kohnen will have his work cut out for him as all of those investors, as well as Beck's former business partners, have agreed to testify against the former Ohio State representative.Prosecutors say Beck set up fake companies, brought in investors, signed deals and even traveled to Europe to represent the companies that simply did not exist.Kohnen says Beck is a former marine and a longtime public servant who, unlike most, has the courage to stand up and face these charges that he says are not true.Beck faces 39 counts in the indictment for everything from perjury to securities fraud. The judge has set aside four weeks for the trial, but those close to case believe it could take even longer to reach a verdict.Follow us on Twitter @Local12 and LIKE us on Facebook for updates!
