currently im reading through all of black lagoon again and it has gotten even better. it is jarring for me when i was reading the books because the stories would stop half way by the end of the volume. i can understand that a writer would do that as a cliffhanger, but it's being done at literally the halfway point in the story. i could have forgotten a bunch of details about the arc by the time the next volume came out and gotten lost on details. jojo's bizarre adventure does it best with the final chapter in a jjba fight being the first chapter of the next story because by then all the major details are out of the way and the only thing left for the last part of the arc is to wrap things up and even if you aren't sure what happened before, you have the next story arc and the rest of the volume ot focus on still. but with all the volumes together none of those things matter of course.
