Ernesto has now degenerated into a remnant low and has just reached the waters of the East Pacific, where regeneration into Tropical Storm Hector is almost a certainty. Ernesto killed three during its passage through the Yucatan Peninsula and Mexico, and caused minor or moderate damage (of which no absolute total is yet known).
Tropical Storm Ernesto was the fifth named storm and second hurricane of the season, after Chris. Ernesto is currently the strongest hurricane of the season, attaining wind speeds of 85mph and a pressure of 980mb.
