(9 Nov 2018) The Palm Beach County Canvassing board as of Friday is still reviewing nearly 2,000 ballots containing irregularities 3 days after the midterm elections. Only Palm Beach and Broward counties have uncounted votes in the state of Florida, which has prompted a lawsuit from Governor Rick Scott. Scott's lead over Bill Nelson for the senate seat is dwindling as votes continue to be tallied. A court in South Florida has been asked to intervene in the Senate race as the two sides prepare for a possible recount. A hearing was set for 3 p.m. in state court. "It's very unfortunate that some of the highest elected officials in our country are trying to disrupt our democracy because they don't like the demographics of our voters." Said Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher. When asked to clarify she said, "I'm not going to clarify the demographics of our county, they don't like them. And you know why." The deadline for final tallies is Saturday at noon, but that likely won't be the end. Several races, including the high profile race for governor and senate seats are expected to go into a recount, because state law requires a recount if the race is within a .5% margin.
