Here are the commands to guide the Mudokons through the traps. 

D-Pad up: Get the Attention of one Mudokon 
D-Pad down: Tell Mudokons to wait if they follow you
D-Pad left: Get the Attention of all Mudokons on screen
D-Pad right: Get them to follow you

Whistling:
Hold R2 and press down, left, up or right. Right always marks the end of a whistling sequence in a very special way.
