Tg. Sepat Murder Case Postponed

In Selangor, a hearing-impaired man was charged at Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court over the murder of four people in Tanjung Sepat last week.

The case, however, was postponed to January 25 for the appointment of a suitable sign language interpreter to translate the charges against the accused, Kang Chang Heng.

During the proceeding earlier, a court interpreter read one of the charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code against the 38 year old factory worker.

However, no plea was recorded as the accused was unresponsive.

Magistrate Mohd Isa Md Nor then set January 25 for the case to be re-mentioned to allow the appointment of a suitable interpreter by the Palace of Justice, as Kang could only understand sign language in his mother tongue.

Three more murder charges and a count, under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing harm, are expected to be read during the next court proceeding.

It was reported that four people including an elderly couple, a 9 year old boy and a toddler, were allegedly murdered, before their house at Jalan Tepi Laut, Tanjung Sepat was set on fire on December 13.

A police probe then led investigators to the sole suspect, who was in a relationship with the couple's daughter, and that the incident was related to a financial dispute.
