After watching a fascinating interview with French songwriter Louis Ferre, I was inspired to write words with even less intervention from my mind than usual! No rewriting, very few alterations, and Ferre is right, the best lyrics come out pure and need no messing with. Trying to get to the meaning, clarify and anything of that ilk is assuming you already understand the song you have written. I have never fully understood my songs until after many listenings. So less and less have I wanted to tweak and change my original feeling. Follow your heart. Only love will give your life meaning.
