CINCINNATI (Howard Ain) -- So you suffer from back strain following a car accident and
get checked out at an Urgent Care facility. A local man says he was
not prepared for what happened next-- and he wants to let you know about
 it. Howard Ain shows us how being careful could
 save you a lot of money.
Jason Daily and his wife of West Chester suffered back strain in a car accident last month. "We stopped to make a right hand turn, the other vehicle was making a
left hand turn into the dealer and collided head on with us. They just
turned too sharp", says Jason Daily. The Daily's were treated at an Urgent Care facility
and sent home. The next week they received a phone call from a person who
said she was with an accident company. "So i just assumed that was
 a department within the insurance company who was taking care of our
billing", says Daily. The couple was told that they needed to be checked out later
that morning. Daily says, "We went to the chiropractor, he checked us out, did
 a couple of x- rays. We had treatment for a few days." The next week he
contacted his auto insurance company and learned the accident company
that sent him to the chiropractor had no relationship with the
insurance company. Daily believes this person got their
information from the police report. Daily says he felt misled, saying "We
 spoke with our insurance about it. They said this kind of practice goes
 on all the time." Daily says his insurance company took a
dim view of all these bills and ended up paying just a fraction of the
charges. Fortunately, Daily's medical bills were fully covered by his
car insurance company, but he learned that's not always the case so
wants to warn others involved in car accidents.
"When you get a
call make sure you know exactly who it is that you're talking to. Don't
take everything for granted, make sure you know who it is."

The Supreme Court has ruled it's legal for lawyers to mail letters to accident
victims, but not call them and Daily says his mailbox was stuffed with
 such letters. As for phone calls telling accident victims to go to a
particular chiropractors? I've advised Daily to file a complaint with
the State Attorney General.

seeking comment was not returned.
