Prepare to hear conflicting information. And hotels/pensions usually don't want to give details for doing-it-yourself, hoping to earn a commission by booking excursions. Roman Ruins are scattered through and around the Kaleici area. Walk...and you will find. Imposing Hadrian's Gate/Wall was only two blocks from Hotel Alp Pasa by turning left instead of the right usually taken daily. Walk. Walk some more.
