She awoke on first day of Ashawin. God Ram killed Demon Ravan on the Ashawin Shudha Dashami. Hence this Dashami is being called as Vijaya Dashami. People started to celebrate Vijayadashami. People started to celebrate Navaratri festival from Ashawin Shudha Pratipada to Ashawin Shudha Dashami.
