The GCC summit opens on Sunday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital. The Gulf Cooperation Council, commonly known as GCC, comprises of six countries – Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. This is the first GCC summit after Saudi Arabia and other Arab powers cut ties with Qatar in 2017. The Emir of Qatar, Tamim Al Thani, has received the invitation and is said to be attending.
