Bernt Wahl [Executive in Residence, CET] Abstract: Today, neighborhood data is being used to improve localized information for Public Heath Services, Economic Analysis, Internet Search, Real Estate and Social Networking sites and solving other real world problems like crime and poverty. Through defined neighborhood demographic datasets and boundaries, the neighborhood analysis examines locally correlated attributes with recognizable names to provide cohesive information for a given region. The analysis shows that neighborhoods, with their flexibility to form organically, prove in many cases to be a better solution to collecting demographic data than census measurements, which are often confined to a fixed quantity amalgamation of census tracts, units that are generally restricted to a set population for a given region.
