A fresher democracy in UMNO, without any room for the party to be personality-based. This was presidential candidate, Khairy Jamaluddin's pledge, if picked to helm the party, in its June 30 polls. He said, progressive transformation means, that the party should respect the voice of the grassroots and that includes replacing leaders who are not carrying-out their duties. And should he lose the presidency bid, the outgoing Youth Chief, at this media conference, said that there would be no need to offer him any other posts in the party. On another presidential hopeful, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah's challenge to a debate, Khairy accepted it with the format, organisation and debate moderator to be discussed further, but stressed that the issues to be discussed should be free.
