Saoirse Ronan stars in a powerful teen romance set against the thrilling backdrop of a future Britain at war. In the near future, American teenager Daisy (Saoirse Ronan) is sent to stay with relatives on a farm in the English countryside. Initially withdrawn, she emerges from her shell to embark on a romance with the handsome Edmund (George MacKay). But away from the glorious English summer, dark storm clouds of war are gathering across Europe. As the conflict escalates and an unknown enemy invades, the UK descends into a violent military state. Now Daisy must fight to survive as resources become increasingly scarce. This gripping blend of apocalyptic thriller and emotional romance is adapted from the popular young adult novel by Meg Rosoff, which won the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize. The script is co-written by Jeremy Brock, who previously collaborated with director Kevin Macdonald on 'The Last King of Scotland'.
