It was exactly on this day in 2009 that the then acting head of the National Prosecuting Authority, Mokotedi Mpshe, addressed the media on the charges faced by former president Jacob Zuma. Mpshe announced that it would "neither be possible nor desirable for the NPA to continue with the prosecution of Mr Zuma". Nine years later, the former president will face the very same charges in a court of law.
