Cyclone Haruna has intensified to become an intense Category 3 cyclone, and is likely to maintain its intensity until landfall in Madagascar. Landfall is likely within 24 hours, and so life-threatening storm conditions are imminent for the sparsely populated southwest region. Flooding generated by heavy rain and storm surge is likely, with winds of up to 115mph and gusts higher than that on coastal areas.
