http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com The actual trek leads from Chilling-Spitok or, reversed, Spitok-Chilling. Zinchen/Jinchen is the last village in the direction we are headed, and according to guide Riga, the guesthouses there are filled with bed bugs! Eeww. It was bad enough that Steve got bitten by bed bugs in Yurutse... A jeep road begins in Zinchen which then becomes 25 kilometers/15 miles of tarmac. There was no way this side of hell that we were going to walk 15 miles on tarmac in full sun! When told this bit of news, we asked Riga to have the driver to pick us up. River crossings ran the gamut from scary to downright perilous. Try to schedule river crossings in the early morning before snow and glaciers begin a serious melt. Even with Riga tightly hanging on to me, I thought the heavy current was going to sweep me downstream. TIP: NEVER look in the water. Look to the other side or you'll get dizzy!
