SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Angela Ingram) -- A family is fighting to keep a convicted baby killer in prison.
Rodney Whipple murdered Shandon Brown in 2000.
Whipple has a chance at parole in June.
A monster, deceiving, a liar, a criminal, said Shannon Brown, who has strong words to describe her son's killer.
Rodney Whipple took her most precious gift in the most violent way.
He beat her baby boy so severely that prosecutors say little Shandons injuries match that of a car accident, and then Whipple did much worse.
Shandon had bite marks on his body that matched Whipples dental records.
Whipple murdered Shandon in April of 2000.
Whipple and Shannon grew up together and were in a relationship at the time, so she trusted him to watch the baby while she went to the store.
For the past few years, the family has gathered signatures at different events to keep Whipple locked up.
Shannon was living on Hidden Meadows Drive when Whipple savagely beat her son.
She says following that beating, Rodney Whipple also tormented her.
He called me all kinds of names, said Shannon. [He] told me I was stupid for believing the police.
Shannon says Whipple acted as if he were a good person but she says people should know the truth about what he did.
There's no way he can walk this earth, none, said Shannon. He is right where he belongs. I don't want to see him out don't nobody want to see him out if he was to get out, he'd do something else to go right back. He's a criminal for life.
An assistant prosecutor has already written a letter to the parole board urging them to keep Whipple in prison.
During the trial, the prosecutor proved Whipple was Shandon's killer by matching a bite mark on the baby to Whipple's dental impression.
