Here is a car wheel animation I created in 3D Studio Max back in 2002. I attempted to recreate the front wheel of my 1995 Honda Accord which I was planning to use in my film "Hollow Point". This version didn't look too bad and was simply a texture mapped cylinder rotating on a moving ground plane. The textures were taken from photos I took of the real wheel and a bit of nearby road. With the sound of crunching gravel a few seconds of this would have worked nicely with other footage. In the end I built a camcorder mount and filmed it for real so I never used this animation in the film.
