MESAG-100
TOKIMEC

Compared with conventional motion sensors which required a gyro for each axis, this motion sensor detects the acceleration rate from all 3 axis' simultaneously and angular rate of two axis on a single gyro sensor. The multi-axis sensor device, MESAG-100 is the world's first rotating type micro inertial sensor. In theory, 6 axis are necessary to detect motion, this sensor has 5 axis and simultaneously outputs 5 axes measurement, thus enabling detection of nearly all motion detection. The technology is based on MEMS technology, where a 1.5mm diameter rotor made of silicon ring is electrostatically suspended and rotated at high speed. The sensor can detect the movement and outputs information in real-time through a monitor and this can be used to detect movement on people and things. In the future, this sensor will have a wide array of applications for detecting bullet train motion for measuring the comfort of passengers, car wheels, and in and also in other devices like cell phones and health care devices.
