Google and Amazon - New Home Automation Products Google and Amazon have both come out with new versions of the Google Home and Amazon Echo home automation products, respectively. Each new Google home automation product comes with Google Assistant and has a specific purpose. The same goes for the new Amazon home automation products, as each new Amazon Echo comes with a specific purpose. The new Amazon Echo is called Amazon Echo 2. There are also the Amazon Echo Plus 2, and the new Amazon Echo Spot (and of course the dot). These products all come with a new and improved version of Amazon Alexa. Specifically, the Amazon Echo Spot is more like a smart home alarm clock that has the capability of connecting to other speakers through both cable and Bluetooth. The Amazon Echo Plus 2 is essentially an improved version of the original, with a better far-field microphone and improved speaker capabilities. Amazon is also launching new versions of their Fire TV, and a new toy product called the Amazon Echo Buttons. Google has launched their new products. They are named Google Max, Google Mini, and the completely new Google Clips. Google Clips is a smart home camera that has the capability of really automating your picture taking process. The idea here is that it takes short "clips" and then automates some of the choices for you. You don't end up with bad pictures, and you end up with an easy method for getting the best. It's also a highly secure device, so that's important when you're talking about a product that takes pictures of your family. The Google Mini is essentially a news speaker. It gives you the ability to play podcasts and news from multiple sources, just like the Google Home. It's also only $49, so it's much less expensive than its bigger original. The Google Max is the granddaddy of Smart Home Speakers. With over 20 times the power of a Google Home, this speaker is ready to do some serious damage to the upper end speaker market. Also, when you purchase Google Max ($399), you also get a whole year of YouTube Red for free. That brings the overall cost down considerably. All in all, this is a great set of announcements for home automation from both Google and Amazon. Thanks for watching, and please subscribe below!
