loudlabs.com MURIETTA - On Tuesday August 15, 2017 a father and his live in girlfriend were arrested on suspicion of severely abusing his biological 5 year old son. The father, a Navy Sailor and a Murrieta resident, Benjamin Matthew Whitten, 33, and his girlfriend Jeryn Christine Johnson, 25, were arrested Tuesday and booked on suspicion of child abuse and inflicting great bodily injury on a person under 10 years old. The father was also charged for alleged torture of a minor. According Police, Officers and Paramedics were called to the home at 24001 Verdun Lane around 10:00am Tuesday regarding a child in medical distress. The child was suffering from severe injuries that required immediate medical attention. The nature of his injuries were not disclosed. After initial examination the child was airlifted to a Children's Hospital in San Diego and was listed in grave condition. Police say the living conditions at the home were extremely unsanitary. 11 dogs, four cats and two fish were impounded by animal
