Please turn up the volume. Horace and Lydia is an adaptation of a love poem in Horace's Odes. Following the poem verse by verse, Horace and Lydia initially take turns singing of their love long past. After Horace with his low voice, Lydia continues the solo in a higher voice, but similar mood. Finally, they combine their voices in exuberance. They speak of new-found bonds, even when their old love resurfaces. In-between, fate looms relentlessly, and nothing is certain. Will they come together? It's not too difficult except for the very tricky chord sequences in the end, but you can really pour yourself into it. You may say it's a bit citchy, but it's not clear cut, not even the end, and we all need a little romance from time to time, don't we?
