Many Singapore cat owners do not send their older cats for dental check up. In this case, the owner said that the cat ate a lot. Yet the cat gets thinner. This cat also had a possible breast tumour that was said to be a "cyst" by the owner 6 months ago. Dr Daniel had removed it. The owner did not want histology to check whether it was cancerous. The owner wanted a biopsy to check first. Since he wanted a biopsy to find out the cause as major surgery would be costly in old cats and high anaesthetic risk. A blood test is advised. The kidneys are swollen on palpation and had vomited once. Biopsy was done. In old cats, the prognosis is poor when the lump is cancerous but the vet who recommends euthanasia can be condemned by clients as uncaring and incompetent. So, no euthanasia was advised for the other 15-year-old cat which died despite surgery. No dental work was done in this case as the owner was in favour of biopsy first.
