Tourists & locals show their love and support for the Columbia River sea lions in Astoria's East Mooring Basin. Where the Columbia River meets the sea lion. The sea lions have been hauling out in this basin for over twenty years and have been delighting the young and old with their hilarious, and playful antics. These highly, intelligent &, fascinating social animals are an economic draw and a tourist attraction for Clatsop County. Help us save our sea lions! Oregon please stop scapegoating, branding, trapping, and killing sea lions for eating fish. Their impacts are minimal and there are so many bigger issues facing salmon recovery that are being dismissed. Hatchery, habitat loss, hydro power, and harvest are the biggest threats to salmon recovery. The sea lions and the salmon have an ancient predator prey relationship with these fish that span over ten thousand years on the Columbia River. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their love and support for the Columbia River dogs !
