Guatemalan President in Belize for SICA Summit

President Morales touched down at the P.G.I.A. at twenty minutes passed three o’clock this afternoon and is here for the 2018 SICA Summit which Belize is hosting. This is the second time, as far as we know, that Morales has been on Belizean soil since he was elected President in 2015. His first official visit was in December 2015 when he met with Prime Minister in his office on Coney Drive. At the time, the scene was unlike no other. Activists and protestors like COLA’s Geovanni Brackett and others attempted to block Morales’ motorcade by lying on the street. At this time Belizeans are engaged on the I.C.J. referendum on whether to take Guatemala’s claim to The Hague. But today, there wasn’t much fuss regarding the President’s arrival. In fact, Foreign Affairs Minister Wilfred Elrington says that he does not understand what the hullabaloo is all about.
