Long Beach - A hit & run traffic accident in Long Beach sent one person to a local hospital with critical and possible life threatening injuries late Saturday night. The accident occurred around 11:30 PM in the intersection of E. Ocean Blvd & Linden Avenue in the Entertainment District of downtown Long Beach. The victim was crossing Ocean Blvd when struck by the driver of a Scion sedan. The suspect fled the scene westbound on Ocean Blvd and then northbound on the 710 freeway. The suspect was located a short time later on the 710 freeway at Willow Street. Two females were seen being detained by Long Beach Police and a LBPD DUI unit was called to the scene. A short time later, LBPD radio traffic indicated that the DUI unit was booking a suspect. The suspect's vehicle can be seen with a smashed windshield on the driver's side. The victim was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach. The final condition of the victim is unknown. The investigation is being handled jointly by Long Beach Police and the CHP South LA division.
