When hammock camping in the Smokies you do have to be cautious (as always!) when dealing with bear encounters. We only saw a bear on our way hiking out of Cades Cove but on the trail caution is warranted. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is one of those place that should be on every hiking or backpacking bucket list. Gregory Bald in June is amazing. The azaleas weren't quite at their peak when we visited but it was still beautiful.
