The President of the United States had two meetings with institutions for which he has shown little respect for in the past - the EU and NATO.
Thursday's meetings were hoped to be the basis for a reset in relations. But as Simon McGregor-Wood reports from Brussels - it didn't quite go according to his hosts' plans.
