Through the early stages of the $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks (G1), Elloluv comfortably raced on the lead in an effort to avenge a loss by a neck to Composure in the Las Virgenes Stakes (G1) on February 9.Despite racing behind Elloluv's slow pace of :48.57 through a half-mile and 1:11.80 for six furlongs in the 1 1/16-mile race, Composure again spoiled her rival's plans by launching a bold move three wide to put a head in front at the top of the stretch on her way to a victory by three-quarters of a length. Elloluv held second, 4 1/2 lengths ahead of Go for Glamour.

"This wasn't particularly her kind of race, having to come off a very slow pace," said winning jockey Jerry Bailey. "But when [Elloluv] picked it up, my horse found another gear."  partymanners
