Giant Ryan held off a challenge by Force Freeze and pulled a 12-1 upset in the $350,000 Vosburgh Invitational (gr. I)  Oct. 1 at muddy Belmont Park.

The victory earned the New York-bred son of Freud   an automatic berth in the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) Nov. 5 at Churchill Downs. It was the sixth straight win for the 5-year-old horse, who entered off a triumph in the Smile Sprint Handicap (gr. II) back in July.
Giant Ryan is owned by Shivananda Parbhoo and trained by Bisnath Parbhoo. Out of the Dayjur mare Kheyrah, he was bred by Thomas/Lakin.
