September 14, 2016 young and old came from far and wide to oppose the proposed construction of the world's largest methanol refinery on the Columbia River in Kalama, Washington. Not only would the world's largest methanol plant be disastrous for the ecology of the Pacific Northwest. It will have a negative impact on the economy and jobs that currently exist for American citizens in the bio-region. Moreover it is time to leave the fossil fuels in the ground and build towards a more sustainable future for the future generations to come. Therefore there are many negative impacts that will be derived from the construction of the world's largest methanol refinery on the Columbia River in Kalama, Washington which far weigh any of the preconceived benefits. Please call the Port of Kalama and urge them say NO and pull the lease for this disastrous proposal. Request that they do not enact emanate domain, drain valuable water resources, raise green house gases, and leave a lasting legacy of toxic air and water pollution for the public on the Columbia River for future generations to come. PORT of KALAMA : (360) 673-2325 Thank You for taking action! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all deserve to eat. We all deserve a safe place to sleep. We all deserve a safe place that we can call home. Sea Lions are scapegoated and killed for consuming as little as one salmon in five years out of the Columbia River and being in the area for five days below the Bonneville Dam. While 2-3 highly volatile Bakken oil trains pass through the Columbia River gorge and by the Bonneville Dam daily placing all Terra and aquatic communities along the rail at risk from deadly oil train derailment. Moreover sea lions and wild salmon are being scapegoated and killed while fossil fuel expansion threatens to destroy critical habitat and our current local economies. In the end undermining our ability to protect the forest, the wild salmon, the resident orca, the pica, the public health and beautiful Pacific Northwest bio-region that we call home. People and place before profits! Power to the People!
