The Norwich Terrier scratches his hairy ears till they are pigmented black. Is it food or other allergies? It is possible. However, one cause of chronic otitis externa could be the lack of ventilation and drainage in the hairy ears. Blood test for allergens is decided by the owner. Lateral ear canal resection surgery option is not acceptable.
