Minister of National Security and Communications, Stuart Young, and Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan, updated the national community on ongoing disaster relief efforts following the heavy floods on Friday and Saturday. Minister Young said despite the devastating floods, Government has taken a decision that there will be no national shutdown on Monday. People are being urged to take precautions to protect themselves. Minister Sinanan said there were no reports of infrastructural damage on bridges, but some damage was noted from breaches in Caroni. He said a big challenge is on the Uriah Butler Highway where the Southbound lane was covered in flood waters, acknowledging that there will be some damage there.
