Technical clothing, ski jackets, ski pants, gloves, rain jackets and pants are coated with DWR when they are manufactured. Over time the durable water repellent wears off. Sometimes washing and drying the garment will revive the rain repellent. DWR is not permanent and can be reapplied. There are several companies , that sell spray to reapply the coating. After reapplying the coating, rain jackets, ski jackets again become waterproof. Many brands have their proprietary DWR. Columbia, Arcterx, Marmot use their own DWR, called Omnitech, Membraine or venture. Gore-Tex is the most commonly known DWR.
