Fifty-three years after Nigeria got her independence from Colonial rule, some pro democracy activists say the country is yet to attain true independence. They draw comparism between Nigeria and a fifty-three year old underdeveloped man and argue that Nigeria should have been more developed than it is today. They all spoke at a lecture organised by civil society group, Centre for Change in Lagos. They all lamented the state of the nation saying that if Nigeria were to be a human being, it would have a soul, which would guide actions and inactions in the country. The absence of a soul; a National guiding principle, they said, has kept Nigeria in the dark as a country. The issue of the proposed national conference also came at the lecture with the initiative getting support from unlikely quarters.
