The Power Hour (created of David Roche): 1 hour of "intentional" running with the final 3 minutes fast AF (hard sprint). The goal of the workout is to get the legs spinning at a comfortable pace (think faster than daily run but slower than marathon pace) and wake up your body 4 days out from race day. The last 3 minutes are an opportunity to really open it up (think 5k pace or faster) and finish with a bang. By the end of the workout, you shouldn't feel too fatigued but your legs should be feeling loose and ready to roll for the weekend! Adjust the length of this workout to align with your typical training--if you run ~30 miles a week, I'd suggest dropping the total time to 25-30 minutes; for 40-50 miles/wk, try 35-45 mins; for 60+ miles, start with 50 minutes and progress to 60 minutes if you're still feeling comfortable.

If you try out this workout, please let me know how it goes! And if you have other favorite pre-race workouts, I'd love to hear about them! Leave a comment below and let's get a conversation started!
