CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- You could call it adding insult to injury, having to pay for an ambulance ride after getting shot or beaten. So Thursday, a majority of Cincinnati city council called for ending ambulance fees for victims of violent crime. Council member Chris Seelbach says Cincinnati's fees are twice the average for the region. But charging a crime victim anything does not seem fair. While it does make sense to charge ambulance fees I don't think it makes sense for someone who is a victim of violent crime, when they themselves did nothing wrong, that we should be charging them $1500 to go to the hospital, Seelbach said. There's no decision yet. Among the questions to be resolved, how serious does the crime have to be? And if the victim has insurance, shouldn't it be billed?
