Columbia River Sea Lions are under threat of imprisonment-- to spend the rest of their lives in captivity, or death. Their crime-- merely eating fish. Every species deserves the right to eat, and the sea lions can not order take out, like humans can. It is time to address the global severity of planetary bio-sphere collapse due to human greed, exploitation, and mass species extraction from our rivers and oceans. Humans are allowed to kill 17% of the legal fish, and the millions of pounds of by-catch that is not counted is deemed waste to humans, and all the Columbia river sea lions combined eat 1% of the run .SO who are the real gluttons here ? It is not the indigenous sea lions that have a symbiotic relationship with the endangered salmon. It is the human species with their high tech- technology ever increasing their ability to rape and pillage at a faster rate-- severing the webs in our ecology. There are no structures or supports for such gluttony in our intricate web of life. Current economics, works against our own human, and planetary best interests, and we know that yet, some still lust after these false profits-- willing to forsake all that lives on our beautiful planet. It is time for the scape goating of the Columbia river sea lions to end. It is time for humans to address, and be responsible for protecting the very web of life that supports us all.
