In this video I will explain how to paint horse jump rails 3 separate colors in order to create a unique and custom look for your own horse jumps. You can use whatever colors you like, but I started with solid white rails, and then painted three red stripes, each 14" long, and then completed the look by adding 4" black stripes on either side of the red stripes.
It isn't hard, but it does take time, because after finishing one color, you need to allow drying time for each color you are adding.
I used Rustoleum oil based paint. The oil based paint is the best paint you can use for durability, however, it does take longer to dry before re-coating. It is best if you can allow for at least 24 to 48 hours between coats of paint. But your patience will be rewarded with how beautifully professional your rails will look.
And the best part is the paint will stand up to heavy use, as well as stand up to the elements.

The tape I use for all of my striping and painting projects is the green frog tape. It is more expensive, but you will not get bleeding through your striping. Do yourself a favor, and spend the extra $2.00 a roll for the better quality tape.

The paint brush I used was a 1 1/2" brush.
