Demo by 5 months old Aotearoa New Zealand Bully. Heel walk and walk backwards. Position left and right heel walk backwards. Position front and walk backwards.Reverse
Stand in front of your dog with a treat and ensure that he is standing up and facing you.
Keep facing your dog but encourage him to concentrate on you then take a step backwards. ...
You can progress from this first step gently and reinforce each extra step as your dog progresses.

Use high value treats, or even better do this with every meal as I did. Have the food at the puppy's head level and walk next to a wall for Heel Backwards. Heel front require the puppy to learn 'front' command. If the dog it is in the front position, it will naturally walk backwards as you walk forward. Make sure you continue to feed small portions of foods/treats as you walk for walking backwards correctly.
