How do you move one of B.C.'s most treasured pieces of art? Carefully.

Chief of the Undersea World is the 5.5-metre (18-foot), 1.587-tonne, bronze killer whale sculpture created by renowned Canadian artist Bill Reid for the Vancouver Aquarium in 1982. It marked the Aquarium's entrance for almost 30 years, until 2012, when it was wrapped up and moved into storage to make way for the first phase of the Aquarium's expansion.

On June 3, in advance of the Aquarium's grand reopening, the sculpture was moved back into place, with the aid of a crane, a flatbed truck, and a whole lot of careful maneuvering.
